Cleaning for Turbo-turbine

Introduction

The cleaning system can be used for the following types of cleaning:

- Thermal shock cleaning of turbine with high engine output
- Washing of turbine with reduced engine output
- Compressor cleaning with maximum possible engine output

Cleaning Procedure

Compressor cleaning

before and after the cleaning all valves are in stand by and the cleaning device remains switched on.
The following steps must be taken to clean the compressor:
  1. Open the shut-off valve of the air supply
  2. Check the engine load : this should be as high as possible (>50%)
  3. Open the shut-off valve before relevant valve unit
  4. Open shut-off valve of entrance unit
  5. Set selector switch to desired engine if selector switch is present
  6. Start cleaning by pressing button compressor washing.
The entire cleaning cycle take approx. 1 minute
Signal lamp is it throughout the cycle and flashes during water injection
  7. After cleaning close valve
  8. Close shut-off valve entrance unit
  9. Close shut-off valve of air supply

Turbine Washing

Before and after the cleaning all valves are in standby and the cleaning device remains switched on.
The following steps must be taken to wash the turbine:

  1. Reduce the engine load, so that the gas temperature before the turbine is less than 430 C. Cleaning can not be performed at turbine inlet temperatures above this temperature limit: all signal lamps flash for 15 s
  2. Wait at least 10 minutes until the temperatures have stabilized. Open the shut-off valve of the air supply
  3. Open shut-off valve before valve unit
  4. Open shut-off valve entrance unit
  5. Set selector switch to desired engine if selector switch is present
  6. Start cleaning by pressing button for turbine washing.
The entire cleaning cycle take approx. 10 minutes.
The signal lamp is lit throughout the cycle and flashes during water injection.
  7. Check the whether the pressure gauge of the entrance unit indicates a pressure of 2.0 ± 0.2 bar during water injection. If the pressure is outside the range specified, it must be corrective with adjustable valve. the pressure gauge is able to measure a pressure between 0.4...1 bar
  8. After cleaning closed the valve (shut-off valve)
  9. Close valve entrance unit and close valve of air supply
  10. The engine load can be slowly increased. After cleaning the engine must be run for at least another 10 minutes

If the event of an engine stoppage during cleaning, the cleaning process should be interrupted by operating the emergency stop switch

Thermal Shock Cleaning of Turbine
Before after and cleaning all valves are standby and the cleaning device remains switched on.
The following steps must be taken for thermal shock cleaning of the turbine:
  1. Set the engine load, so that the gas temperature before the turbine is 430 ... 500C. Cleaning cannot be performed at turbine inlet temperatures outside this temperature range. All signal lamps flashes for 15 s.
  2. Wait at least 10 minutes until the temperatures have stabilized.
  3. Open shut-off valve of air supply
  4. Open shut-off valve before valve unit
  5. Open shut-off valve of water in the entrance unit
  6. Set selector switch to desired engine
  7. Start cleaning by pressing button TSTH.
The entire cleaning cycle take approx. 10 minutes
The signal lamp is lit throughout the cycle and flashes during water injection.
  8. After cleaning: close valve shut-off before valve unit
  9. Close valve shut-off of water entrance
  10. Close shut-off valve of air supply
  11. The engine load can be slowly increased. After the cleaning the engine must be run for at least another 10 minutes.

In the event of engine stoppage during cleaning, the cleaning process should be interrupted by operating the emergency stop switch.
